7 Tips To Control Your Destiny

In order to take control of your destiny, you must DECIDE, that YOU want to take responsibility of your own life. This may sound like tough medicine, but sometimes the patient needs it.

First you must decide what results you want in your life, the purpose, and why. If you struggle to answer that question honestly to yourself, then try reading it backwards, why do you want to achieve what you want to achieve? Is there a purpose for why you want this in your life? And what result will have to happen for you to realise that your dream has come true, how will you know and measure this?

The next step is to buy a whiteboard or a journal, and place this in a room where you will see it every morning and every night. The key is to review your goals every morning and every night before you go to bed.
Now write down your specific goals, for now you can just write down 4 things you want to achieve in the next year, 4 things you want to achieve in 3 years, 5 years, and 10 years. Write something down so that you can understand it, later we can write down the specifics of each goal. Don’t think too much, but do try and write down as many goals as you can. Can you write down 50 goals? Can you write down 300 goals?

With each immediate short term goal, write down a plan of how you will achieve it. What do you need? What are you missing? Who do you need to ask and how will you get the answers? Here’s a tip, start from within.

The 7 components I have found to give balance in life are:

  1. Spirituality – where are you spiritually? are you at peace within?
  2. Physically – how is your health? do you sleep enough? do you exercise enough? is your diet healthy? how is your hygiene?
  3. Socially – what is your community like? how is your relationship with your family? how is your relationship with your friends? what new experiences do you want? what new people do you want to be around with and attract?
  4. Financially – what income do you want or need? how will you achieve this income? what will you give in order to achieve this income? do you have enough to support yourself for food, shelter, bills and activities?
  5. Relationships – how are you managing your relationships with your family and friends? are you spending enough quality time with them? how are your business relationships managed? how do you manage relationships with a more intimate partner?
  6. Personally – what are you wants now? what are your wants later?
  7. Emotionally – how do you handle your feelings? can you feel feelings? can you let go?

Finding balance is key. Try working on the above 7 points and write down your current situation with each point and where you want to be. Does it look like you have a healthy balance? Are you neglecting something and procrastinating? Can you spot any red flags that you want to work on? What is not being fulfilled?

Ask yourself and start writing down a plan to move yourself in the direction you want to be. Review this daily and you will be surprised. Don’t forget, your goals and wishes can change over time, and so can your plans.
